The OG Filipino alphabet before they added the extra letters from Spanish and English. It's the 'simple life' version of our writing system, before things got complicated with C, F, J, Ñ, Q, V, X, and Z. Think of it as the Nokia 3310 of Filipino alphabets.
From the first four letters 'a-b-k-d'. Coined by Lope K. Santos and based on the Spanish 'abecedario'.
The 'abakada' has been officially replaced by the modern 28-letter Filipino alphabet. It is now primarily taught for historical and literary context.
