"Atorni" is how Pinoys say "attorney." They're the people you call when you get into trouble, or when you need a contract checked so you don't get scammed. They're masters of "palusot" (excuses), but the legal kind. Having an "atorni" in the family is a source of pride, and they're often the designated person to argue with the waiter when there's a mistake in the bill. The more formal term is 'abogado'.
