/ba/
FIL: Isang kataga na ginagamit sa pagbuo ng tanong, pagpapahayag ng pagtataka, o pagdidiin. Wala itong katumbas na direktang salita sa Ingles ngunit nagpapahiwatig ng tonong patanong.
EN: (question particle)
The ultimate Filipino question mark you can hear. It turns any statement into a question. "Kumain ka." (You ate.) vs "Kumain ka **ba**?" (Did you eat?). It's also the sound of your Tita being nosy: "May nobyo ka na **ba**?" (Do you have a boyfriend yet?). It can also express surprise or frustration, like "Ano **ba**?!" (What the heck?!).
Essential for forming yes/no questions in Tagalog. Its placement can slightly change the emphasis but usually comes after the first word (verb/adjective/noun) of the predicate.
