FIL: Nag-iisa; walang kapatid.
EN: sole; only one
This is the Pinoy version of "only child." If you're the 'bugtong na anak', you're the solo flight, the one-man team, the sole heir to the family's collection of Tupperware and the remote control. You get all the attention, all the pressure, and all the 'pasalubong'.
Almost exclusively used in the set phrase "bugtong na anak" (only child). The noun form 'bugtong' means 'riddle'.
🇵🇭 Bilang bugtong na anak, lahat ng atensyon ng magulang ay nasa kanya.
🇺🇸 As the only child, all of the parents' attention is on him/her.
