FIL: Isang uri ng bakod o kulungan na yari sa kawayan o lambat na inilalagay sa tubig upang makahuli ng isda.
EN: fish corral, fish trap
This is some deep-cut, lolo's-baul-level Tagalog. Think of it as the OG, analog version of a fish finder. It's a giant trap set in the water, like a maze for fish where the only exit is into a fisherman's net. You'd probably only hear this from someone who actually builds them. For everyone else, it's just 'baklad'.
Unknown, possibly from a local dialect. Sometimes spelled 'buhiya'.
A very rare or archaic term. 'Baklad' is the much more common word for a fish corral.
🇵🇭 Nagtayo ng bagong buhia ang mga mangingisda sa lawa.
🇺🇸 The fishermen built a new fish corral in the lake.
🇵🇭 Maraming nahuli sa kanilang buhia kaninang umaga.
🇺🇸 Many were caught in their fish trap this morning.
