EN: electromagnetic wave
Okay, deep breath. This is what happens when Filipino scientists create a word for 'electromagnetic wave'. 'Dagibalni' = dagitab (electricity) + balani (magnetism). 'Liboy' = wave. It's the high-tech, super-formal, textbook-only term for the thing that makes your WiFi, radio, and microwave work. You will never, ever hear this at the palengke. Say this to a friend and they'll think you're casting a spell.
A neologism or coined word from "dagitab" (electricity), "balani" (magnetism), and "liboy" (wave).
This is a technical, academic term created by the Lupon sa Agham (Committee on Science) to Filipinize scientific vocabulary. It is not used in everyday conversation.
