Before measuring tapes, there was the 'dali.' It's the OG Filipino unit of measurement, probably used by your lolo to check if the fish was big enough. "Mga dalawang dali na lang ang natitira sa softdrinks mo, ubusin mo na." It's imprecise, but it gets the job done, just like "Filipino time."
This is an older, more traditional unit of measurement. While "pulgada" (from Spanish) or "inch" are now more common, "dali" is still understood, especially by older generations. The stress is on the first syllable, unlike 'dalî' (quick).
