FIL: Isang lumang yunit ng panukat para sa mga butil tulad ng bigas o mais, na katumbas ng humigit-kumulang tatlong litro o walong chupa.
EN: A unit of dry measure (approx. 3 liters)
Before everything was in kilograms and liters, there was the ganta. Ask your lola. It's how they measured rice, corn, and other grains in the palengke. One ganta is about 3 liters, or 8 'chupa'. It's the OG bulk-buying unit. You won't see it in SM Supermarket, but the term still echoes in old recipes and provincial markets.
From Spanish 'ganta'.
Considered a traditional or archaic unit of measurement, but still understood, especially in rural areas. It is a measure of volume, not weight.
