This is the more formal, slightly dramatic cousin of "Ang ending..." or "It turned out that...". You use it when you're talking about the consequence of something. "Pinabayaan niya ang pag-aaral, ang hinantungan ay bagsak na grado. Ang halabasin niyan ay hindi siya makaka-graduate." It's about the final outcome, the thing that happens because of all the things that happened before it.
A variant of `kalabasan`, from `labas` (out, result). The `ha-` prefix might be an archaic formation.
