FIL: Mabilis at magaang na ihagis o ihampas ang isang bagay, karaniwan gamit ang dulo ng daliri o isang maliit na instrumento.
EN: to flick; to snap
Think of flicking a rubber band at your classmate, or how a horse trainer snaps a whip. It's a quick, sharp motion. It's the sound your finger makes when you snap it, but as a verb for an object. 'Ipaltik mo nga 'yang alikabok sa mesa.' (Flick the dust off the table.)
From Tagalog 'i-' (causative/instrumental prefix) + 'paltik' (a flick, a snap; also refers to an unlicensed firearm).
The word 'paltik' by itself can also mean an illegally manufactured firearm, but in this verb form, it usually refers to the flicking motion.
🇵🇭 Marunong siyang ipaltik ang latigo nang hindi tumatama sa kabayo.
🇺🇸 He knows how to snap the whip without hitting the horse.
🇵🇭 Ipaltik mo lang ang daliri mo para makuha ang atensyon niya.
🇺🇸 Just snap your fingers to get his attention.
