The Filipino multi-tool. It can chop wood, clear a path in the jungle (talahib), open a coconut, and, in old movies, serve as the weapon of choice for the heroic farmer. It's the OG Swiss Army knife, but bigger, scarier, and more useful for buko juice.
From Proto-Philippine *itak, meaning 'bolo, sword'.
Note the stress on the second syllable. Ítak (stress on first syllable) is a different, obsolete word for the cackling of a hen.
