This is the "you" that's always in the middle of the action. It's the clingy version of "ikaw." You can't start a sentence with "ka," but it's everywhere else. "Kumain ka na?" (Have you eaten?) is the national anthem of Filipino care, and "ka" is the star of that show. It's short, sweet, and gets the job done.
