This word has two vibes. The general one is just 'helper' or 'assistant'. 'Siya ang katulong ko sa project na 'to.' But more often, it's used to refer to a domestic helper, the unsung hero of many Filipino households. Nowadays, the term 'kasambahay' (house companion) is preferred as it's more respectful.
