/luk-LOK/
FIL: Ang opisyal na upuan ng isang monarko, obispo, o sinumang may mataas na katungkulan; simbolo ng kapangyarihan o awtoridad.
EN: throne, seat of power
This isn't just any 'upuan.' This is THE chair. The Iron Throne, the President's chair in Malacañang, the CEO's chair in the boardroom. 'Luklok' means the seat of power. The verb 'iluklok' means to enthrone or install someone in a high position. It's what every trapo (traditional politician) dreams of: ang makaupo sa luklok ng kapangyarihan.
The verb forms "lumuklok" (to sit on a throne) and "iluklok" (to enthrone someone) are more common in usage than the noun itself.
🇵🇭 Ang gintong luklok ay para lamang sa reyna.
🇺🇸 The golden throne is only for the queen.
🇵🇭 Marami ang nag-aasam na lumuklok sa pagkapangulo.
🇺🇸 Many aspire to be seated in the presidency (i.e. become president).
