EN: to harden; to be stubborn; to stand firm
This has two meanings. The literal one is for cement: **magpatigas** ng semento. The more common, 'hugot' one is when you refuse to give in during an argument with your jowa. You **nagpapatigas**, even if you know you're a little bit wrong. It's the 'pride' move, standing your ground like a rock, for better or for worse.
Can be literal (physical hardening) or figurative (emotional or psychological hardening/stubbornness).
