/na-ba-ba-TID/
FIL: Ang pagkakaroon ng kaalaman o kamalayan tungkol sa isang impormasyon, katotohanan, o pangyayari. Isang pormal na katumbas ng "nalalaman".
EN: is aware of; knows
This is the formal, almost poetic way of saying "nalalaman" (to know). You won't hear this in everyday chismis. You'll find it in news reports, official statements, or maybe from your very proper Lola. "Ayon sa aming source, nababatid ng lahat ang kanyang sikreto." Sounds way more dramatic than "alam ng lahat," right?
From na- + reduplication of the first syllable 'ba' + batid (to know, be aware of).
ROOT MEANING: known; aware
A more formal synonym for 'nalalaman'. Used in literature, formal speech, and journalism.
🇵🇭 Nabababatid ng pamahalaan ang hirap na dinaranas ng mga mamamayan.
🇺🇸 The government is aware of the hardships being experienced by the citizens.
🇵🇭 Lingid sa iyong pagkabatid, matagal na siyang may gusto sa iyo.
🇺🇸 Unknown to you (without your awareness), he/she has liked you for a long time.
