FIL: Tulungan ang isang ina sa kanyang panganganak; gumanap bilang komadrona o hilot.
EN: to assist in childbirth
This is the ultimate assist. Before hospitals were everywhere, the 'hilot' or 'komadrona' was the MVP of the barangay. They were the ones you called to **paanakin** the expectant mother. Today, it’s what OB-GYNs do, but with more machines that go 'bing'.
From `pa-` (causative prefix) + `anak` (child) + `-in` (object-focus suffix). Literally, 'to cause someone to have a child' in the sense of assisting the process.
`Paanakin` refers to the person assisting the birth, not the one giving birth (`manganganak`).
