/pag-a-an-lu-WA-gi/
FIL: Ang sining, gawain, o propesyon ng isang anluwage; ang paggawa o pagkukumpuni ng mga bagay na yari sa kahoy.
EN: carpentry
This is the OG DIY. Before YouTube tutorials and IKEA, there was the anluwage (carpenter) and their craft, pag-aanluwagi. It's the skill of turning a block of wood into a table, a chair, or that *silya de tumba* your lola loves. It’s basically adult LEGOs but with splinters.
From `anluwage` (carpenter). The `pag-` prefix and reduplication of the first vowel `a` indicate the act or profession of being a carpenter.
A formal and rather rare term. "Karpinterya" or "pagkakarpintero" is the more common, Spanish-derived equivalent.
🇵🇭 Kinakailangan ng tiyaga at husay sa pag-aanluwagi.
🇺🇸 Patience and skill are needed in carpentry.
🇵🇭 Nais niyang pag-aralan ang sining ng pag-aanluwagi mula sa kanyang lolo.
🇺🇸 He wants to learn the art of carpentry from his grandfather.
