This is the classic "pakipot" move. When someone offers you the last piece of pizza, and you say, "Hala, 'wag na, sa'yo na," but you're secretly praying they insist. That's pagpapatumpik-tumpik. It’s pretending to be shy or hesitant, usually for social grace. Classic.
From pag- (nominalizer) + pa- (causative) + reduplicated tumpik (a word without a clear meaning on its own, only used in this construction).
A culturally specific term related to Filipino social etiquette. Often has a slightly playful or mildly critical connotation.

🇺🇸 He is known for his false modesty during parties, but he is also the last one to go home.
