FIL: Ang gawain ng pagputol, partikular na ng mga tubo para sa produksyon ng asukal.
EN: the act of cutting sugarcane
This is a super specific, almost vintage term. Think of the hacienderos and the sacadas. `Pagtatabad` is the OG 'harvesting' but specifically for sugarcane. It's hard, back-breaking work under the sun. You won't hear this in a BPO office, but you might hear it from your lolo who grew up near a sugar plantation in Negros. It's the agricultural equivalent of a deep cut track on a classic OPM album.
From `pag-` (prefix) + reduplication of the first syllable of `tabad` (to cut sugarcane).
Primarily used in agricultural contexts, specifically within the sugar industry. It is a regional or specialized term, most common in sugar-producing provinces like Negros.
🇵🇭 Nagsimula na ang panahon ng pagtatabad sa mga tubuhan.
🇺🇸 The season for cutting sugarcane has begun in the plantations.
🇵🇭 Ang buhay ng mga sakada ay umiikot sa pagtatabad at pagtatanim.
🇺🇸 The life of the sugarcane workers revolves around cutting sugarcane and planting.
