/pa-ka-KA-nan/
FIL: Ang direksyon o panig na katapat ng kaliwa; ang gawing kanan.
EN: right side, right-hand direction
This is the formal, almost GPS-like way of saying 'sa kanan' (to the right). You'd use this if you were giving directions to a king or writing an old-timey novel. In modern traffic, you just shout, 'Kanan, Manong!' but 'pakakanan' is the version for your Lolo's Lolo.
From 'pa-' (directional) + 'kanan' (right).
Rarely used in modern conversation. 'Kanan' is the standard word.
🇵🇭 Lumiko ang karwahe sa pakakanan na daan.
🇺🇸 The carriage turned to the right-hand road.

🇺🇸 The shrine is located on the right side of the river.
