/pa-mang-GIT/
FIL: Isang maikling pagtukoy o pagbanggit sa isang tao, bagay, o ideya.
EN: mention, citation, reference
This is the academic's "shoutout." When you're writing your thesis and you have to name-drop Foucault or a local historian, that's a 'pamanggit'. In casual talk, it's that quick mention: "Nagkaroon ng pamanggit tungkol sa 'yo sa meeting kanina." (You were mentioned in the meeting earlier.) It’s dropping a name or a fact into the conversation.
From `paN-` + `banggit`. The `paN-` prefix (which becomes `pam-` before 'b') often creates a noun indicating a tool or means for the action of the root word.
More formal than "banggit." Often used in literary or academic contexts.
