This word works in two ways. Literally, it's for food: "Papreskuhin mo muna 'yung sopas bago mo ipakain sa bata" (Let the soup cool down first...). Figuratively, and more juicy, it's for people. When your friend is raging about their ex, you tell them, "Kalma, papreskuhin muna natin yang ulo mo." (Calm down, let's let your head cool down first). It's the verbal equivalent of telling someone to chill.
