EN: to send a text message (as a request)
The official Batang 90s/early 2000s command. Before Messenger was king, this was how you asked for updates. "Patext ako 'pag nasa Jollibee na kayo." It's the ancestor of "PM is key". It's a blend of Tagalog 'pa-' (please do) and English 'text'.
Contraction of the Tagalog causative prefix `pa-` and the English word `text`. A common Taglish formation.
Purely colloquial and very common in spoken language, especially from the early 2000s to mid-2010s. Not used in formal writing.
