/PIR-me/
FIL: Sa paraang palagian, hindi nagbabago, o matatag.
EN: always, constantly, permanently
This is more common in Visayan languages, but used in Tagalog too. It's that one friend who's "pirme" late. Or your tita's "pirme" na tanong, "Kailan ka mag-aasawa?" It means consistent, fixed, for better or for worse.
From Spanish 'firme' (firm, steady).
While understood in Manila, it is much more frequently used in the Visayas and Mindanao. In standard Tagalog, 'palagi' (always) or 'permanente' (permanent) are more common. Can also function as an adjective.
🇵🇭 Gusto ko ng trabaho na pirme ang sahod at hindi pabago-bago.
🇺🇸 I want a job with a fixed salary that isn't variable.
🇵🇭 Pirme siyang nagrereklamo tungkol sa trapiko.
🇺🇸 He always complains about the traffic.
