/ta-LA-kan/
FIL: Isang uri ng banig na magaspang na yari sa mga dahon ng palmang talak.
EN: a type of coarse mat
The OG, low-tech sleeping mat. Before memory foam and Tempur-Pedic, there was the 'talakan'. It's a coarse mat that probably smells like dried leaves and the province. Not exactly comfy, but it gets the job done. More likely to be seen in a museum or a lola's baul (storage chest) these days.
From the 'talak' palm, whose leaves are used to make the mat.
This meaning is very rare and mostly archaic or localized. Most Filipinos would only know the 'argument' meaning.
🇵🇭 Natulog siya sa sahig gamit ang isang lumang talakan.
