Before '100k followers' was a thing, ancient Filipinos already had a word for it: yuta. This is the OG term for one hundred thousand, straight from Sanskrit. You won't hear this at the palengke, but you might find it in old epic poems or historical texts. It's the kind of number you use when counting mythical armies, not your sahod.
From Sanskrit 'ayuta' (अयुत), meaning 'ten thousand' or 'myriad'. In pre-colonial Philippines, its value became one hundred thousand.
This is an archaic term and is no longer in common use. The modern Filipino equivalent is 'isandaang libo'. Its use is mostly limited to historical, literary, or linguistic discussions.
